Static&SignalBrand Studio

Loud ideas. Clear brands.

Static & Signal is a brand studio for founders and small businesses. We take the ideas rattling around your head and turn them into an identity you can actually use. Fixed price. No fog.

The studio

A small studio
with one job.

You bring the half-formed ideas, the screenshots and the four fonts you can't choose between.

We turn them into a brand you can use on Monday: a clear direction, a working identity and the rules that keep it consistent when we're not in the room. Static & Signal is independent and founder-led, so the person who reads your brief is the person who designs your brand.

Every project has a fixed price and a defined scope. We use AI as a production tool, the way we use any good software. The judgment, the taste and the final call stay human.

What we do

  • Brand direction and strategy
  • Wordmarks and identity systems
  • Color and type systems
  • Brand voice and messaging
  • Brand guides you'll actually open
  • Website copy and editable templates for launch

What we don't

  • Website builds or development
  • Complex UX or product design
  • Bespoke illustration
  • Trademark searches or legal clearance
  • Unlimited design on retainer
Need one of these? Tell us anyway. We'll say so plainly if it's not for us.
Selected work · concept projects

Work that came
out clear.

Cafés, newsletters, software, side projects. Different volumes, same process: we take what's loud and make it legible.

Concept 04Café
"Rustic but modern?"Warm, legible, unmistakably local.
Concept 07Newsletter
"Like a zine, but for 40k readers."A masthead that works at 16px.
Concept 09Software
"We look like every other dashboard."A tool people can name from the tab icon.

Concept workThese are self-initiated projects made to show the process. The businesses are fictional and none of this is paid client work. Real projects will appear here once clients agree to share them.

Process

How it
runs.

Eight steps, in this order. Essentials skips the first look, and Launch adds a strategy review before design. You always know which one you're on and what we need from you.

  1. Start a project

A few short questions about what you're building and which package you're eyeing.

  2. We reply

Within 3 business days, with an honest read on fit. If we're not right for it, we'll say so.

  3. Proposal

What we'll create, why the package fits and exactly what you'll receive. A plan, not a preview.

    No deposit before this
  4. The questionnaire

The real brief. Rambling is welcome; specific beats polished.

  5. Kickoff

We go through your answers and flag anything risky, like a name someone else already owns.

  6. First look

Your direction shown in real use, with the reasoning written down.

  7. Feedback

Your notes, in writing, against the brief. Identity includes one round, Launch two.

  8. Handoff

Final files and your guide, organized so you can find things in six months.

How feedback works

Say what's
wrong.
We'll fix it.

One voice

Send one set of notes per round, from the person who signs off. Group chats make committees, and committees make beige.

Problems, not fixesIt feels too corporate

is more useful than "make it purple". Tell us the feeling. Solving it is our job.

Checked against the brief

Every note gets checked against what you told us in the questionnaire. If we push back, we explain why.

Questions

The fine
print.

Plain answers. Where something isn't decided yet, we say so rather than guess.

How much does it cost?

Essentials is $499, Identity is $1,499 and Launch is $2,999, in US dollars. The price is fixed in your proposal before we start, so nothing creeps.

What's in the proposal?

Three things: what we'll create, why the package fits your business, and exactly what you'll receive, with the price and the feedback rounds included.

It's a plan, not a preview. It won't include concepts, logos, color palettes, type explorations or a full brand strategy, because those are the work itself. No deposit is taken until you've read it and said yes.

How long does a project take?

Typically about 1 week for Essentials, 3 weeks for Identity and 4 to 5 weeks for Launch. Your exact dates are set in your proposal.

You get 3 business days for each review. If feedback comes back later, the dates move by the same amount.

How many rounds of changes do I get?

Identity includes one round of feedback and Launch includes two. Essentials doesn't include a round, so you can add one for $99.

Need more? Extra rounds are $199 on Identity and $299 on Launch. A round means one set of written notes, from the person who signs off, and our revisions in reply.

Will you build my website?

No. Launch includes your website copy and guidance for applying the brand, so whoever builds the site (you, a developer or a platform like Squarespace) has everything they need.

Can you check my business name is safe to use?

We can't give legal clearance and we don't register trademarks. The questionnaire asks what you've already checked (registration, domain, handles, trademarks) and we flag anything that looks risky before identity work starts. For certainty, talk to a trademark lawyer.

What happens after handoff?

For 30 days we'll fix any file problems, like a missing format or a broken export. That's file support, not new design. On Essentials, small fixes such as a typo or a color code are free for 5 days after delivery.

If you'd like a second pair of eyes later, a Brand Check-in is a video call to walk through your files, look at something you've made and answer questions, with written notes after: $59 for Essentials (20 minutes), $149 for Identity (45 minutes) and $199 for Launch (60 minutes).

Started with Essentials? Book Identity within 45 days of handoff, building on your Essentials direction, and the full $499 comes off.

I'm not sure which package I need.

Choose "Help me choose" when you start a project. We'll read what you send and recommend one, with the reasoning. If Essentials is enough, we'll tell you.
